First Green Infrastructure Community of Practice Convened

Next meeting in April 2008.

On November 30, 2007, the Conservation Fund helped kick off the first Green Infrastructure Community of Practice meeting at the headquarters of the U.S. Forest Service. This meeting was attended by over 50 federal employees each of whom supported continuing dialogue, improving communication about new initiatives and collaboration across and within sectors of interest and regions. The group set a goal of expanding The Community of Practice to include all interested parties --federal, state, local governments; non-profits, academia – for its next meeting. It also decided to pursue an invitation to participate in the US Botanic Gardens summer 2008 exhibit featuring a sustainability theme with an exhibit illustrating green infrastructure concepts, networks and practices.

The group’s second major meeting will be sponsored by the US Department of Defense on April 25, 2008 in Washington, D.C. from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

To RSVP for the meeting, please email Dana Coehlo at dcoelho@fs.fed.us or call 202-205-1695.
