The Natural Resources Defense Council's Rooftops to Rivers II provides case studies for 14 geographically diverse cities that are all leaders in employing green infrastructure solutions to address stormwater challenges -- simultaneously finding beneficial uses for stormwater, reducing pollution, saving money, and beautifying cityscapes. These cities have recognized that stormwater, once viewed as a costly nuisance, can be transformed into a community resource.

The National Gardening Association is awarding grants to schools and community organizations with child-centered garden programs. School garden programs address the smart growth principle of promoting mixed land use, and help increase healthy food choices in schools and the surrounding communities. The top five winners will receive gift cards valued at $1,000, and 95 winners will receive $500 gift cards, for the purchase of gardening materials and supplies from their local Home Depot store.
